Who is Family Missions Company?
Has your world ever been rocked?
Has your world ever been rocked? Well mine has been many times but on Mother’s Day 2017 my world was rocked by our Lord in a very profound and beautiful way. My wife and I were visiting my daughter and her family in order to celebrate two of the most beautiful women in my life. On that Mother’s Day my grandchildren were abuzz with excitement when my daughter, Jessica, and her husband, Jason, told us that they were going to become missionaries for Christ. They were going to join the Family Missions Company proclaiming the Gospel of our Lord and helping our sisters and brothers in need. Where they were going to be serving was not yet know but they would be living in “Gospel Poverty” in likely a very remote corner of the world. Wow!
I say wow in many senses of the word. I was happy that they would be able to do the work that God had directed them to, but I was also concerned that they would be living in a distant land, far from medical assistance and far from my wife and me. Since that time I have learned more, and more, about Family Missions Company and their unique role in serving our Lord and some of the people most in need around this world.
Family Missions Company (FMC) has locations in Mexico, Peru, Tanzania, the United States, Costa Rica, Haiti, the Philippines, India, Spain, and Taiwan. Since their ministries founding as a 501c3 Non-Profit in 1997, they have trained and sent out hundreds of families and singles to serve as evangelists and servants to the poor around the world.
Often the way FMC missionaries touch those in need is by doing the simple things with great love. Things like offering a handshake, giving a hug, or providing that unique act of kindness that a person desperately needs. Whether it is a paralyzed blind man living by himself in the jungle, a homeless man looking for food, or an eighty year old widow needing someone to talk to; the missionaries of FMC are there to show our brothers and sisters throughout the world the love of Christ.
